Sustainable Style Made Fun

Hi, I’m Karen, the founder of Bear La Boo. I started this journey back in 2015, originally making bears—which is where the name comes from! But my love for sewing began much earlier, when I was just 13 years old. Over time, my skills grew and I found myself creating costumes for baton twirlers—a totally different but exciting challenge. I hold a BA Honours degree in Fashion and Textiles, but my true passion lies in upcycling. At Bear La Boo, I combine my love for fabric, creativity, and sustainability to transform vintage materials into unique, beautiful clothing and accessories that anyone can enjoy.

When I’m not sewing, you’ll often find me writing and performing in murder mystery dinner experiences—an absolute blast! I’m also known as “a Karen” at the Karen's Experience, which is so much fun to be part of. I’m a big Disney fan and a regular visitor to the States—I like to think I’m a bit of a pro at navigating all the magic and adventure over there, so any questions on that topic I'm more than happy to help.
